From September 26th to 28th, Deyang will host a world-class cultural event, the Sanxingdui Forum. Themed "Civilizational Exchange from an Archaeological Perspective,” the forum will open a new chapter in the dialogue between the ancient Shu civilization and the world.
The opening ceremony and main forum will be held on the morning of September 27th. Renowned experts from China and abroad will deliver speeches focusing on “the charm of Sanxingdui”, “the multiple dimensions and international perspectives of Sanxingdui civilization research”, and “the prehistoric culture of the Chengdu Plain”. They will also reveal new discoveries about the Sanxingdui civilization, providing the global academic community and the public with a fresh way into Sanxingdui civilization, promoting academic exchanges and research collaboration in related fields.
On the afternoon of the same day, four parallel forums will be held:
Civilization Decoding: Focusing on Sanxingdui archaeological excavations and multidisciplinary research. Experts and scholars from renowned universities will share the latest research findings from Sanxingdui archaeology and explore the interactions between Sanxingdui and other regional civilizations;
Global Dialogue: Building an international academic exchange platform. Renowned experts and scholars, as well as representatives from research institutes, and archaeological and cultural institutions from the United States, Greece, Peru, Japan, and other countries, will explore the exchange and coexistence among civilizations from an international perspective, sharing research findings and heritage preservation practices from diverse civilizations, such as the Greek and Inca civilizations.
Cultural Communication: Representatives from various media outlets and cultural institutions will focus on methods and approaches for public archaeology at home and abroad, exploring the use of new media and digital technologies to promote the public and internationalization of cultural communication;
Youth Innovation: Gathering young talents and innovative forces to share ideas on cultural inheritance and innovation. Participants include the chief designer of the new Sanxingdui Museum building, the voice actor of the animated film character Nezha, who will share their thoughts on cultural inheritance and innovation, helping bring Sanxingdui culture into the public spotlight.
Meanwhile, major supporting events will also be held:
"Encounter Across Millennium," Sanxingdui Cultural Themed Exhibition: This exhibition will chronicle the major events of Sanxingdui's century-long history.
Symphonic Concert "Bashu Rhythms · Sanxingdui" by the Sichuan Philharmonic Orchestra: This concert will open a "dialogue across time and space" through music ahead of the forum.
Launch of the "Globalization Sanxingdui" International Communication Campaign: This campaign will collaborate with CGTN, Xinhuanet, provincial and municipal mainstream media, overseas platforms, and museums from China and abroad.
Sanxingdui Friends Salon: Inviting 50 Sanxingdui enthusiasts closely connected with Sanxingdui cultural promotion, to discuss Sanxingdui culture from academic research to public engagement.In addition, the Jinsha Site will collaborate to showcase the diverse charm of ancient Shu civilization.
